Tucked away in Seattle’s West Seattle neighborhood, the Gatewood Bed and Breakfast offers a unique getaway that provides both a quiet sense of remote retreat and easy access to the many city attractions.

Built in 1910 by British-born Francis Harper for his wife Pontine and six children the interior of the house was remodeled in its original Craftsman spirit in the 1990s. The deeply rich stained woodwork holds over 100 years of stories and history of the families who have lived here, after whom our rooms are named: the Harpers, Clarks, Frosts, and Odekirks. Margaret Hayes and her family have lived here since 1987. In the desire to share the gem of a house, she has converted the residence into a Bed and Breakfast.

Each comfy room at the Gatewood features it’s own private bathroom, luxurious microfiber bedding and cotton Turkish towels, complementary wireless internet and works by local artists.

Please see our Locations section for more information on amenities in our West Seattle neighborhood, the city of Seattle, and the Puget Sound area.

The Gatewood cannot accommodate children under the age of eight years.
